We follow “breed the best, eat the rest” to help strengthen and preserve the Irish Dexter breed.

How we select breeding stock

Every calf born here gets evaluated on temperament, conformation, and how well its sire and dam have produced over the years. When we first started with Dexters, we had no plans to sell breeding stock. After a few calves came along that really checked all the boxes, we decided to raise some of them as breeding animals instead of putting everything in the freezer.

On this page you’ll find the young bulls and heifers we believe would make good additions to other herds. If you are interested, use the contact form or email us.

Dexters offered for Breeding stock will be DNA-tested for A2/A2 milk beta-casein (milk genetics — separate from beef). ADCA’s fact sheet covers milk composition and the optional Milk genetics tests:

SML Declan 46

Declan is a red Dexter bull calf, polled, born 11/09/2025 (ADCA 059527). He’s homozygous wild red (MC1R E+/E+). He’s learning to work with us — gentle, but still shy of attention. Halter training has just started; he loads and stays calm in the chute.

Genetics (UC Davis VGL, Mar 2026): A2/A2 beta casein; kappa casein A/A; beta lactoglobulin B/B; polled Pc/H (heterozygous — at least half his calves should be polled); BD1 bulldog N/N (non-carrier). ADCA also lists PHA non-carrier; parentage DNA qualifies to sire and dam. Pedigree: sired by FF Freedom’s Jameson out of TSU 1935 Annie. Full genetics + pedigree PDF linked below. $2600.00

AF Rory 45

Rory is a full wild red type. He is full polled; all his offspring will be polled. He is negative BD2 and he is A2/A2. Rory is short for Roderick, which means “Red King.” He is a son of our herd sire, Kirkhaven Dillon, and dam LF Ellie London. Dillon is an outstanding bull who has produced many quality calves, and he has passed his gentle nature on to Rory.

Rory is calm and easy to handle. We’re continuing with his halter training, and he doesn’t shy away from attention. We believe he has strong potential to become an excellent herd sire for someone. Rory has been a joy to work with. $2800.00

AF KaHal 43

Kahal is a red but only has one copy of wild red and one of recessive red. KaHal is A2/A2 Beta Casein milk type, the most desired type for Dexters. KaHal is from our herd sire Kirkhaven Dillon and dam Kirkhaven Gertrude. $2400.00

AF Ciran 44

Ciran is a full wild red, polled (Pc/H. At least 50% of the offspring will be polled). Ciran is A2/A2 Beta Casein typed; this is the milk type most desired in Dexters. Ciran is from our herd sire Kirkhaven Dillon and dam Kirkhaven AF Tovia. $2400.00
